One thing to keep in mind is that Bar Codes are NOT inventory management. A Bar Code is a machine-readable representation of information (usually dark ink on a light background). It is simply a translation from human readable text to the Bar Code that you see. Take a look at a UPC label on a product sitting on your desk. See those numbers on the label under the Bar Code? That is what you will get when you scan the Bar Code. Nothing more and nothing less. No Inventory Management there. But that number is what works the magic. Warehouse Management ES will take that number and search your Warehouse Management ES account for an item with that specific number in the Bar Code field. When we find it, we can now display the item information, and you can continue with your inventory transaction, with the knowledge that you have quickly and easily found the absolutely correct item. That is Inventory Management.
Warehouse Management ES is Designed to utilize Bar Code information. This can be beneficial in many different areas of the warehouse. Locations - When we ask you to do a transaction that needs a location to be entered, your employees can simply scan a Bar Coded location label. Accurately capturing and verifying the location that they are at. Items:
- Receiving - This can be of benefit when receiving products. A simple scan of the Manufacturers label can identify what product is being received.
Cycle Counts and Physical Counts - Scan the location, scan the item, enter the quantity. What could be easier?
Serial Numbers - This can be a huge time saver. Trying to manually type in a serial number is a nightmare. It is slow, and almost impossible to do it accurately. Scan it instead!
Lot Numbers - If you are collecting lot numbers, you are usually doing it just in case there is a recall. So you better make sure you have accurate records of exactly what Lots are in your warehouse, and which customer received which Lot. Scanning is by far the most accurate way to capture this information.
In the past, one of the limitations of utilizing Bar Codes was the initial cost of the equipment. Getting something that is durable enough to survive the abuse of a warehouse environment is not cheap. You could easily spend more on Mobile Bar Code Scanners, Thermal Transfer Label Printers, and Wireless Access Points, then you spent on QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions.Warehouse Management ES takes that traditional thinking and turns it on it's head. We figured, we don't charge an upfront cost for our Software, why should we charge one for our Hardware? So we offer it all for rent...
